unable to find in the 1900 census of Jackson County 3/1/03 ????, need closer look Miss 1880 at widow Sulivan, 1876 Tate County marriage Bouy & Sulivan
Tate County was established on December 23, 1873 from Marshall / Tunica / DeSotoMarshall County seat Senatobia.
possiblities:
(1) she is in boarding house and census missed her
(2) she is in Salt Lake City area in TB santorium./ TB story likely confused with Troupe Simmons Reid 1880-1911 dau of George MT Simmons., died of TB and buried Walnut Grove.
(3) she was still using spelling "Buie" and we missed her.
could there be connection between JW Bowie leaving northern mississippi for Ben Simmons land in NE Arkansas in mid to late 1880s and Ben Simmons bear hunting at a camp in NE Mississippi in that same time frame?

DNA tests, both Y-111 at FamilyTreeDNA and Ancestry.com indicate this John Motheral Walker 1834-1895 as father of granddad Arthur. Also possible that a brother or close cousin could be father, but Ancestry DNA cluster and strength of match are pointing to John Motheral Walker.

Note also in her letter to Bobby Bowie, Aunt Ruby said that Fred Seaton was half brother of Arthur Bowie. Arthur probably wrote Caniza obit, named her his mother and Fred as her grandson. Cora in Fred’s death certificate name Alice Bowie as his mother.
Note 2
Doris Mullholland Letter to BBB 7/5/1980
Caniza lived in Millie Kelly boarding house in Newport. She has TB and Arthur carried her to a santiarium in Salt Lake City for about a year but didn't help. She came back to Newport and died.
this story may be confused with a very similiar, verified story of Troupe A Simmons Reid, wife of ZB Reid. I have not found anything to verify the Salt Lake City story other than family oral tradition. A 9/12/09
daughter Alice lived in Missouri.

Arthur Bowie who came up from Little Rock Tuesday to take a position with the Cash Grocery was taken sick Wednesday and has been unable to be at the store.
Same column, Friday Sept 13, 1901 , back page:
The grocery establishment of Otto M. Bowen's, known as the Cash Grocery, has been enjoying trade expansion until the limits of a one store building are no longer sufficient. The partition is now being torn down between the store and what has been a warehouse, mang one big store, where the large stock, which Mr Bowen purchase while in St. Louis, may be stored. The proprietor is a hustler and an accommodating gentleman, who deserves the success he has achieved.

Non paternity event/NPE/Not Parent Expected AFB’s FamilyTreeDNA Kit 926600 Y-DNA-111 in Jan 2020 in Haplogroup I-A7115. positive on 54 SNP and has two matches at Genetic Distance 2, two at Gen Dist 3, three at Gen Dist 4, and more than twenty matches from Genetic Distance 5 to 10, most with Walker name, all in group 2 of the Walker Project.
AFB’s Ancestry DNA shows many matches and ThruLines with Allan Walker/Esther McCory, and John Motheral/Jane Currie families, strongest matches are in Joel Walker and Mary Motheral descendants. AFB has marked more than 250 shared DNA matches in Walker/Motheral, McCrory, Allen group.
No Bowie/Buie/variant have shown in either Y-DNA or Ancestry DNA before grandchilden of Arthur Bowie 1881-1941
It is possible to image several theories to name parents of Arthur Bowie 1881-1941, however the most likely and simplest is that James Motheral Walker is his father and Caniza Reeves (Buie/Sullivan/Bowie) is his mother. June 1880 census of Tate County, Mississippi, shows James M Walker living (dwelling 204, family 209) next to Caniza Sullivan, twice widowed with her two adult children, (dwelling 205, family 210). Arthur born in May 1881.

5 Nov 1850 Desoto, Southern difficult to read writing.... first name maybe Caniza...
Desoto County is NW corner of Mississippi, bordering Tennessee. In 1850 it included what in 1873 became Tate County and Sanatobia where son Arthur was born in 1880.
According to a published history of Tate County , the City of Senatobia was founded on two sections of land purchased in 1834 from the Chickasaw nation for $1.25 per acre. The name “Senatobia” was derived from the Indian word “ Senatohoba ,” which means “white Sycamore” and is a symbol of “ rest for the weary.” Senatobia received its charter as a municipality in 1860.Helena Arkansas is 35 miles east of Sanatobia.

Note 9
Family traditionial story: Arthur and Mother Carriza Bowie arrived in Jackson County in a wagon about 1891. Arthur lived with and raised by Ben F Simmons, said to have changed diapers on future wife Eleanor Cornelia Simmons while living with Ben.
Carriza Obituary in 1906 "came to Arkansas fifteen years ago. Newport has been the family's home for twelve years." This indicates 1891 for arrivial in Arkansas, three years with or near Ben Simmons, Tupelo and into Newport about 1894. These times similar to those told by Doris and Aunt Sallie in their letters.
The stories about Arthur rocking cradle or changing diapers for baby Cora born 1887, also fit for arrival in Arkansas about 1891.
Doris letters to BBB 7/1971 and 7/5/1980--James and Caniza arrived Jackson county together with three children. He died and is buried on Simmons farm, she had TB, spent a year in Salt Lake City in santimorium but returned to newport. She lived in Millie Kelley Boarding house in Newport.
