Personal and Family Information

Elizabeth was born in 1784 in maybe Surry, North Carolina, the daughter of John Sr Clayton and Charity Banner.[Note 2]

She died in 1845 in probably Lincoln County Tennessee.

Her husband was Martin Flynt, who she married in BEF 1801 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Their five known children were John C (1802-1838), Thornton (1804->1880), Hastin (1806->1880), Thomas (1815-?) and Norris (1818-?).

1818 Apr 12 - Lincoln Co., Tenn. Will of Martin Flynt:
In the name of God, Amen, I Martin Flynt of Lincoln County and state of Tennessee being weak in the body but perfect mind and memory do constitute this my last will and testamony in the manner and for following;
vis.
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth the house and land which I now live on and all the negroes and stock of every description during her natural life or widowhood except each child is to have a negro about the same age as they marry or come of age and also a horse and cow and bed and furniture And it is also my wish for my sons all to have negro boys and my daughters negro girls if the negroes are not of equal value, for them of the lowest value to have some other property to make them all equal. I do also appoint Richard FIynt and John C. Flynt Executors of the above will given under my hand this 12th day of
April 1818.
