Elve was born on 8 Sep 1820 in Louisiana, the daughter of Rezin Pleasant Bowie and Margaret Frances Neville.

She died on 21 Jul 1873 in Fairview Plantation, near Port Gibson, Mississippi.

Her husband was John Taylor Moore, who she married on 21 JUN 1841 in Louisiana. Their six known children were Edward Robert Bowie (1845-1880), Angelar Elizabeth (1847-1873), Mary Margaret (1848-1874), John Elvyn (1852-1853), John Taylor (1855-1923) and Rezin Bowie Joseph (1857-1949).
