Notes

Note 1

"Woolsey, Nancy R. Woods - Died, June 24, 1914 at her residence in Bentonville, Ark., Mrs. Nancy R. Woolsey, aged 84 years, 3 months and 9 days. Deceased was a daughter of Dysart and Margaret Woods, who were amongst the early settlers of Benton county. She was born in Carroll county, Tennessee March 15, 1830. Came with her parents to the Woods home 2 miles east of Bentonville 76 years ago and from that time until her death her home was never over 2 miles from the happy home that sheltered her childhood years. Dec. 3, 1850 she was married to James Woolsey, deceased. Eleven children, 7 sons and 4 daughters, were born to them. Of these, J. P. Woolsey of Oklahoma City, W. T. of Salt Lake City, B. H. of Canon, Colo., Mrs. Ella Putman of Pueblo, Colo, Mrs. Samuel Shelton, Albert Woolsey and Miss Sallie Woolsey of Bentonville, survive her. Her brother D. H. Woods, and her sister, Mrs. Margaret Lee, are all of her father's family that survive her. For a number of years she had been a member of the Presbyterian Church U. S. of this city and was held in the highest esteem by her pastor, the members of the church and by her Christian friends and neighbors. Much afflicted for many years, she complained not, but meekly submitted to the will of her Heavenly Father. The funeral services, held from the residence by Dr. W. H. Steen assisted by the writer, was attended by many loving friends and neighbors. The remains were buried at the Oakley Chapel Cemetery by the side of loved ones gone before. May the Holy Spirit comfort the lonely, sorrowing hearts of the bereft, especially Miss Saide, for the care of her beloved mother. P. Carnahan" (Benton County Democrat - Bentonville, Arkansas - May 7, 1914 - obit submitted by flwillingham@mail.com)
