grandmother to the late Theodore Earl Travis, Andrew Heaton Travis of Jersey City, New Jersey and Jeffrey Ryan Hall of Sacramento; and great-grandmother to Alexander, Brandon, Haylee and Hayden Hall and Andrew, Mark and Sophia Travis. Ariana came West from the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1937, married Houghton in 1939 and settled in Marin.

Ariana loved to volunteer at Marin General Hospital, assisted with Hospice and the Kidney Foundation. She was a loyal friend who loved hosting social events at her home. As an avid tennis player, she played tennis weekly to the age of 85. In her younger years, she was a figure skater and ballroom dancer.
