J. P. SCOTT, lumberman; residence, 1212 Locust street, Dubuque; is a native of Oneida Co., N. Y.; he came to Iowa and located in Dubuque in August, 1854, and engaged in the mercantile business; he continued in the mercantile business for thirteen years; then engaged in the lumber business, and in the manufacture of sash, doors and blinds; he carries on the business in Wood Co., Wis.; he has lived in Dubuque over twenty-five years.

He married Miss Alice De Wolf, of Cleveland, Ohio; she is a native of New York; they have four children, one son and three daughters.
