His wife was Rebecca Plater, who he married on 11 JUL 1747 in Richmond, Virginia. Their five known children were Elizabeth Gwynn (1750-1825), Rebecca Plater (1752-1797), Ann Corbin (1753-1835), Mary (1759-1803) and John III (1770-1828).
