Holman was born in 1748 in Virginia, the son of Holman Freeman and Sally Ann Cox.
He died in Aug 1817 in Wilkes County, Georgia.
His wife was Peninah Walton, who he married on 10 Nov 1786 in Wilkes County, Georgia. Their three known children were John Walton (1793-1858), Fleming (1791-1875) and Mary Ann (1788-1856).

FREEMAN, PENINAH (WALTON)—Widow of Holman Freeman, Jr. who served in the Revolution under General Elijah Clarke, came to Alabama from Wilkes County, Ga., after the death of her husband in 1817. She was born in 1772, died in 1823, in Alabama, and was married about 1783 to Holman Freeman. Their children were: Fleming, married Sally Bibb; John, married Miss Callaway; and Mary, who married Dr. William Bibb, Territorial Governor of Alabama. All three children moved to Alabama.
