He died on 29 Dec 1893 in Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey.

His wife was Helen Shepard, who he married on 18 Dec 1867 in Warren, Lake County, Illinois. Their three known children were John Sheppard (1870-1965), Asahel Willey (1875-1954) and Victor Raymond (1882-1955).
