His wife was Eunice Ann Heald, who he married on 14 SEP 1841 in Lake Cty, Illinois. Their six known children were Lucy Gwan (1842-1870), Leonard (1844-1862), John Gage (1846-1938), Grace (1848-1904), Mary Minerva (1850-1872) and Leonora Hope (1858-1939).
