this would seem to agree with:

Georgia Revolutionary Soldiers, Sailor, Patriots, & Descendants - Vol 1, by Carter -this book known to have errors in Simmons family..

John Simmons 1834/Absalom Fortinberry 1834-35 is listing #57 in an old ledger that was used both as a court fee book and in a mercantile business owned by the first county clerk of Jackson County Arkansas and postmast of Litchfield. Many Nephews and Nieces are found in Jackson County after Civil War.

several simmons appear in Jackson Cty marriage records in 1850s but unable to match with known families.

consider J.I. Simmons listed findagrave 115026693, 1807-1894, buried Edwards Cemetery, Hinds County, Mississipi. link to son Webster Calhoun Simmons.
