Fay McCurdy Wight, age 90, of Bentonville, Ark., died at The Bradford House on Friday, April 4, 2014. She was born on Aug. 26, 1923, in Benton County, Ark. She was the daughter of Eva Grace Hornsby and Jasper Marvin McCurdy.
A lifetime resident of the area, her McCurdy ancestors were pioneers that moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1834. Fay graduated from Bentonville High School in 1941. She was a Christian, loved gardening, cooking, writing poems and cheering on the Razorbacks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Troy Wight; her twin brother; and seven additional siblings.
Fay is survived by her daughter, Linda Norman (husband Kenneth) of Centerton, Ark.; three grandchildren: Nathan (wife Laura) of Bentonville, Ark.; Jonathan (wife Emily) of Alexander, Ark.; and Johanna of Orlando, Fla. She also had four great-grandchildren that she dearly loved: Lauren, Joseph, Elizabeth and Jacob.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Bentonville Cemetery with Pastor Steve Tucker officiating.
