Thomas was born about 1751 in Richmond County, Virginia, the son of Richard 3 Flynt and Ann Perry.

He died in BET 1817 AND 1823 in Stokes County NC.

His wife was Sally Martin, who he married on 20 FEB 1782 in Albemarie Co. or Culpepper County VA. Their seven known children were Thornton (1782-1817), Susanna (1786->1850), Alijah (1788->1817), Sarah (1790-?), Thomas 5 (1792-1858), Nancy (1794->1817) and Joseph M (1797-1826).
