Scott Elphingstone, Sr. 86 of Dallas, Texas died Sunday, December 13, 2009.
Mr. Elphingstone was a long-time resident of Newport before his move to Dallas in 2005. He was a member of Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church, graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1951 and served on the Newport City Council in the late 1960s.
He enjoyed fishing and outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife; Wilma Simmons Elphingstone.
Mr. Elphingstone is survived by one son; Scott Elphingstone, Jr. and wife Paige of Dallas, grandsons; Will and Reed Elphingstone of Dallas,
four brothers; Paul Elphingstone of Paragould, Joe Elphingstone of Forrest City, Gene Elphingstone of Houston and Jerry Elphingstone of Little Rock,
one sister; Nancy Elphingstone of Conway.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church with burial in Sandhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church or your favorite charity. Pallbearers will be Paul Elphingstone, Joe Elphingstone, Gene Elphingstone, Jerry Elphingstone, Reid Simmons and Eric Simmons….( sons of Gene and Wanda Simmons)
