Matilda was born on 13 AUG 1816 in Opelousas, St Landry Parish, Louisiana, the daughter of Rezin Pleasant Bowie and Margaret Frances Neville.

She died on 19 MAY 1892 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana.

Her husband was Joseph Hickman Moore, who she married on 15 APR 1841 in Iberville Parish, La. Their four known children were Elve Anna (1842-1911), Joseph Rezin Bowie (c1844-1846), John Seyborne (1847-1896) and Edgar Maurice Bowie (1850-1887).
