Married Florence Garland Havenor on 4 July 1917. Ray was a Capt., U.S. Army Medical Corps in World War I. He was a medical doctor, serving as head of St. Marks Hospital staff in Salt Lake City. Ray also served as President of Salt Lake County and Utah State Medical societies. He was past Master of Masonic Lodge.
