Mary was born in FEB 1858 in Mississippi, the daughter of Alfred Jefferson Vaughan and Martha Jane Hardaway.

She died after 1930. The place is not known.

Her husband was William Ladson Jefferies, who she married in 1877 in probably Mississippi. Their seven known children were William L (1879-?), Saml S (1884-1942), Alfred Jefferson (1886-1949), Mary J (1893-?), Virginia (1896-?), Elenor (1899-?) and Lucien (1901-?).
