His wife was Blossom Chapline, who he married on 3 APR 1901 in Monroe County, Arkansas. Their five known children were Alfred J (1906-1990), William Hardaway (1908-2007), Sara Carrol (1911-2009), Jack Chaplin (1912-1991) and Blossom (1917-1999).
