Very sad to let you know that Bob Phelps passed away this afternoon. Lane asked me to let you know.
Lane sent me a text a few minutes ago with the sad news. I immediately called her, and she shared with me the following:
Bob has had a troubling urinary track infection for some time. It became worse yesterday morning, and he agreed to let Lane take him to see the doctor. In addition to the infection, the doctor found that Bob had a low grade fever and low blood pressure. Their doctor prescribed antibiotics and a medicine for Bob's prostate. Bob got up this morning and ate a small meal, and told Lane he was okay and that she should keep her appointments. Lane left the house for awhile this morning and came back, at which time Bob said he was still okay. She left again, and an hour or so later she called to check. There was no answer, so she came home and found Bob collapsed in the bathroom at 3:45 this afternoon. The EMT's were there within 3 minutes, and worked on Bob for half an hour. There was no evidence that Bob had fallen or hit his head.
Lane's family came to their home immediately, and some the family members are spending the night. Lane says "she's in a state of shock."
