Rogers Daily News April 28, 1930

Allie Woods, a prominent farmer residing between Rogers and Bentonville, died in a Bentonville hospital on Sunday morning, April 27th, 1930 following an operation the previous Wednesday. Funeral services were held at his home northwest of Rogers at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon

with interment in the Bentonville cemetery beside his wife who died about seven years ago.

Rev. A.W. Henderson, pastor of the Bentonville Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. Mr. Woods was stricken ill early Tuesday morning, April 22nd and was brought to a Bentonville hospital where the operation was performed the next day after which pneumonia developed. He was of a prominent Benton County family and lived all his life on and near the Woods homestead taken by his grandfather 98 years ago. The Woods home, northwest of Rogers, is one of the most beautiful in the Rogers vicinity and is noted for the profusion of beautiful flowers grown there.

Mr. Woods' mother, Mrs. J.N. Woods, has made her home with him since the death of his wife seven years ago and helped to care for the two sons, Lewis, 20 years old, and Joe, 15 years old. The oldest son attended the University of Arkansas last year. The youngest son recently returned from a Kansas City hospital where he had been for treatment most of the time since being injured while playing at school last year. Besides his mother and two sons Mr. Woods is survived by four brothers and four sisters. They are: Dr. W.H. Woods, Jasper, MO; Dr. Jim P Woods, Monett, MO; Alex and Bryce Woods, living on and near the home place; Mrs. Grace Christy, Durango, Colo; Mrs. Nellie Burns, Big Springs, Texas; Miss Blanche Woods, Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Madge Gartside, northwest of Rogers. A large number of other relatives also survive him.
