Notes

Note 1

Published in the Limestone Democrat, Athens, Alabama, May 20, 1937.

John R. Christopher died at his residence on Elkton Street Saturday night at 8:45 and his remains were interred in the Athens City Cemetery after services at the home at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. E. G. Allen of Nashville, assisted by Rev. E. R. Little of McMinnville, Tenn., conducted the funeral services in the presence of a large circle of relatives and friends.

Mr. Christopher was a member of an old and well-known West Limestone family, his father being John W. Christopher and his mother, Louise Patterson Christopher.

He was married twice, 10 children resulting from the first union and five from his second marriage. His second wife and 15 children survive him.

Mr. Christopher was one of the most excellent farmers in Limestone, practicing diversified farming. He had accumulated a nice estate from the wise handling of his farm lands and his home was one of the most attractive in Athens.

Mr. Christopher at one time represented Limestone in the lower house of the Legislature and was listed as a conservative. He was also a hard shell Baptist preacher and took an active part in all the works of his church.
