CPT James Byrd McCrory. Son of Thomas McCrory, he married Jane Gilmore, daughter of James Gilmore and Margaret Conn, in 1782 in Guillard County, North Carolina. His children are James, William, Robert, Jane, Isabel, Sarah Ann, Elizabeth, Hannah, John, Margaret, Thomas, Mary and Allen. He was one of George Washington's "life guards" at Valley Forge.

In his bio, "James McCrory: Alabama's RW Hero" and in his RW pension application, he is never anything but, Company Sgt. James McCrory and Ensign James McCrory.
