His second wife was Elizabeth O'Neil, who he married in ABT 1850 in Taliaferro County, Georgia. Their nine known children were George W (c1850-?), Henry A. (1852-?), Thomas (1852-<1920), Mary Virginia (1854-?), Michael (1857-?), Nicholas (1859-?), Catharine (1860-?), Sarah (1862-?) and Elizabeth (1864-?).
