Notes

Note 1

I am one of the grandsons of Chalmers Fletcher Simmons.

My mother, who passed away in 1998 at 90 years of age was corresponding with Mary Shaw Makima and I still have some documents she sent her.

For one, C.F. Simmons, who I assume was one of the sons of Nobe, was married to Clara Lindsay who descends down from Millhouse (not the Nixon Milhouse) and Pence and Dilbone.

She is a direct descendant of the famous Dilbones who were victims of the Dilbone massacre recorded in "Miami County History" a book about Miami County in Indiana.

There were three children of Chalmers and Clara Simmons; Edith Lucille (my Mother), Ed Simmons (who was twice golf champion of Oregon), and "Bud" Simmons (who was a house gambler in Gardena, Calif.)

My parents had three children; Jan P. Van Gordon (myself), Leland James Van Gordon and Vanita Jane Van Gordon.  Two of whom are still living.

My mistake... I forgot to include my Mother's Sister, Rae, who married Walden (first name not known).

"Bud" (Charles) married Dora Simmons (surname not known).

So, that's two sons and two daughters for Chalmers Fletcher Simmons.

Not enough info yet for his wife, Clara Edith Simmons (nee: Lindsay) from Piqua, Ohio.

Georgia Military Roll 29th Regiment 1899 Philippine American War

File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Barbara Winge barbarawinge@yahoo.com

http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm Georgia Table of Contents:

Note:The Philippine American War began on February 4, 1899. The 29th U.S. Volunteers were formed in March of 1899, and served in the Philippine American War. The Philippine American War lasted until 1902, though some fighting occurred as late as 1906. It was fought only in the Philippines, and was a much more brutal and bloody conflict than was the Spanish American War. "Patrick McSherry" <pmcsherry@widdall.com>

The 29th Regiment was organized under the act of Congress March 2, 1899, by General Order 122. That was when the first rumbles of war with Spain began. If I did not type that on the first page, please let me know, as it is very important. The booklet is a collection of photos of each

Company standing at attention. The names are the ones listed under the pictures. As a stated at the end of the data, the pictures are very faded

and it is impossible to tell who is who except for the main officers.

SOUVENIR. 29TH Regiment United States Volunteers.

Also note that brother Huntley Simmons served and died Co A 44 Reg in Philippine War.
