"It is with sad hearts we mourn the death of Thomas Jackson Woods who passed out into the great beyond Saturday morning, June 18 at 7:30 o'clock.

Thomas Jackson Woods was born April 22, 1870 at Bentonville. At different intervals in life Pea Ridge has been his home. In early boyhood he made his home with his parents at their home which is now known as the old "Hunter place". For several years Oakley Chapel was his home. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Walker of Pea Ridge. To this union were born three sons and one daughter, the sons being called away from this world while yet in early childhood.

In 1920 Uncle Tom, as he was better known, moved with his family to Pea Ridge where he resided until death. In early youth, at the age of 12, Uncle Tom united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. Then later, as the church united with the U. S. Presbyterian, he united with the Presbyterian church at Pea Ridge. Throughout life Uncle Tom was a devoted and loyal Christian. From early manhood until death he served as an officer in the church, first as an elder in the Cumberland at the Woods Chapel, now known as Mount Eden. In the Pea Ridge church he was ordained as a deacon. This office he retained until his confinement which came in December 1931. Through his many long and trying days of suffering he was kind, patient and a faithful Christian until he was drawn away in the sleep of death..

For eight years he was vice-president of the Farmers Mutual Life Insurance company. This office he faithfully and successfully filled until his long and trying days of illness. Then at that time he was placed on the board of that organization. Besides his many friends who mourn his going he is survived by his wife and daughter, Helen, a sister, Mrs. M. P. Shipp, Neosho, Mo.; five brothers; Will, Bentonville, Reverend Denton, Topeka, Kan.; George, Mulberry, Eph and Albert of Pea Ridge. Dr. Joseph Miller of Rogers officiated at the services, being assisted by Reverend Henderson of Bentonville. Services were in charge of J. W. Bryant Funeral home. The body was laid to rest beside the son in Oakley Chapel cemetery.
