He died on 14 FEB 1978 in Laguna Hills, Orange County, California.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Delrena Clair Keith, who he married on 29 DEC 1933 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. Their three known children were James Bolivar (1936-?), Delrena Mary (1938-?) and Mary Peirce Keith (1941-?).

His second wife was Neeley Reyburn Crowell, who he married on 25 JUL 1963 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. They had no known children.
