is a good indicator from highway 62 and north, but only fair indicator south (upstream).
all of these interpretations are tentative...
about 120 cfs is very low but possible with some dragging, for slow fishing from Stoney Point to Romp Hole
about 180 cfs is min for put in at Grandview
300 cfs is low for put in at Rockhouse, and a lot at Romp Hole and Stoney Point
5/21/14 Rock House to Trigger Gap - 350CFS at Berryville, 140 CFS at Ponca - plenty of water, moving good over the wide shallow places. no dragger, maybe a little fast made fishing a little more work in some places.
700 cfs may be ideal for put in at Marshall Ford
as gage goes from 3000 to 7000 cfs, the pools are moving and can be lots of floating debris. The river can rise quickly and becomes high risk.
need more to interpret and comment on this gage....
The Ponca gage on the Buffalo is a pretty fair indicator for upper Kings in general area of Kingston, comments on Buffalo also loosely apply to upper Kings.
