WOODS, Sarah E. - Died, at the family residence, Bentonville, this {Friday} morning, Sarah E., beloved wife of D.H. Woods, aged 47 years. Interment will take place tomorrow {Saturday} afternoon in the Odd Fellows' cemetery

[Benton County Democrat - Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas - October 5, 1893]

Woods, Sallie E. CLAYPOOL - On Friday morning, October 6th, 1893 at about one o'clock, Mrs. Sallie E. Woods, wife of David H. Woods of Bentonville, bid her husband, children and friends, and physician a fond adieu and soon thereafter took her departure for , to her an untried but prospectively, and be the assurance of a christian's hope, a sweet and happy home beyond the river. Mrs. Woods was the eldest child of Josiah and Mary Claypool and was born in Warren county, Kentucky April 18th, 1846, thus making her age 47 years. Her parents moved to Dallas county, Texas in 1853 or '54. In 1868 they moved into the town of Dallas from whence they moved to Bentonville in 1868. When about 17 years of age and under the preaching of Rev. Charlton, she and her father accepted Christ, the Redeemer, and was received into the Christian church by the holy ordinance of baptism. From this time until her death she lived the life of a consistent christian woman.

She was untied in marriage to David H. Woods the 10th day of September 1874, the rites of matrimony being solemnized by the Rev. Joel Roberts of the Christian church. Every body that knew Dave and Sallie knows that their married life was a happy one so far as affection and constancy to each other were concerned.

As the fruit of their marriage there is left one bright little boy, Loyd, and one sweet little girl, Lula. Mrs. Woods had been the subject of a painful and incurable malady for a long time. The skill of physicians and surgeons had been brought into requisition often for her relief but all their efforts, however well directed, only brought a short respite from her suffering, as the fell monster, without mercy, knew no relenting. He body sleeps in Odd Fellows cemetery but her immortal spirit is "at rest" in the paradise of God. Thos. W. Hurley.
