Notes

Note 1

Thursday March 16, 1882 IN MEMORY OF EDWARD R. STANLEY

Whereas, it has pleased an All Wise God to call from labor on earth to refreshment above, on the 16th day of January, 1882, our will beloved, time honored Craftsman and Brother, Edward R. STANLEY, thereby severing the mystic chain that has so long bound our hearts in union and brotherhood.

The old heroes that fought and drove out the Indian, the panther and the bear from this country-felled its forests- built its first churches and school houses, and cut out its public roads-are rapidly passing to that borne whence no traveller returns. Within the past few months Edward STANLEY, Joseph TERRY, Richard JONES, Charles GIBSON, Daniel HODGES and others whose names we cannot at the moment recall hath "crossed over the river." None of them, however, passed away more deeply lamented by his friends and neighbors than Daniel HODGES.

Thursday July 22, 1886

In memory of Sister Mary J. STANLEY, who lately fell asleep in Jesus. Miss Mary J. HILL was born April 25th, 1824, and was married to Mr. Edward R. STANLEY, February the 25th, 1845, and departed this life May 23rd, 1886, aged 62 years and 23 days.
