Mary was born on 2 Aug 1825 in Alabama, the daughter of William Gray and Jane Byrd.

She died on 26 Nov 1895 in Miller County, Arkansas.

She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Luke S Driver, who she married in ABT 1840. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Ellen Jane (1842-1901).

Her second husband was Young C Stokes, who she married in ABT 1844. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Lelia Josephine Stokes (1845-1915), Mary (1848-?) and Milton B (1849-c1915).

LD Rutland is listed as stepdaughter to JM Walker age 38 and Ell age 32; Implies EJ Driver had earlier marriage to Rutland.
