ACA Level 3 River Safety and Rescue, July 2014

On the Illinois River at Siloam Springs, Arkansas Whitewater Park. The first formal rescue course at the new park. Flow was about 190 CFS, which is typical for summer.

After the initial introductions and presentations on philosophy and priorities, most of this class was in the water. Topics were presented via tell, show, do with heavy emphasis on participant doing.....lots of swimming, wading, and rope throwing before shifting to boat based rescues and scenarios late in the day.

Big crowd of general public in the afternoon had only minimum effect on our drills.
