Teacher Tales

What do you remember about our teachers?

Faculty of our junior year, comments below the pictures

George Moore
Yelling "Look Out Now" in nearly every class session. Sit up front and you got a good grade
LaRose Burgess
Just a little older than us, came in our sophomore year, taught Red Cross Livesaving, played tennis. Rumor is all the guys were "smitted" or "twitterpated" by her. Arthur made a bad grade on one of her tests, got caught making voodoo doll, and had to stay in at noon to write on board : " I will not practice voodoo in history class"
Heywood Lloyd
Arthur: he taught me how to jimmy doors while setting up grade school for a dance. I still can't dance but from time to time have ocassion to open locked doors just the way he taught me. Linda doesn't remember ever actual teaching in class.
Coach Curtis King
singing math rules: When the middle sign is minus and the last sign is plus, both factors must be minus!
Insisted Sharon take Geometry and by end of year agreed she was right not wanting it. Doc Brown cut class to go to county fair and got swats in front of class from Coach.
Jack Hazelbaker
Agri teacher early, Principal from our 8th grade and on many years.
Roy Cost
Played in a rock and roll band, may have been the band for our Junior Prom. He acted out a horse ride when singing "Tennessee Stud"
Coach John Matlock
graduated from Augusta himself in the class with Sharon's brother. Probably first assistant Coach King ever had, coached Basketball. Linda remembers him in girls PE and doing flips off his knees
Marie Robertson
The Routund One!
Music in French Class
Hunting for her alarm clock that Phil Mark often hid after setting it to go off in french class.
